Michael Block

Perezhilton

Can someone explain to me why a journalist/television host who has worked in media for a few years does not have public relations skills or a public relations crew? None of his common sense suggested an, I am sorry and let me fix my mistake approach would have been a lot better than a FUCK YOU and YOUR WHOLE CREW APPROACH. Maybe he skipped that lecture. I understand that Morgan was not intending to insult or offend but he was told afterward that his wording was inappropriate and misleading. All people have a right to be called, described, or represented in a way they allow. He was wrong, unless you have a stronger vocabulary it can not get any simpler.

It seems that the biggest problem here was lack of knowledge on the community Morgan was attempting to describe. In order to not offend anyone he should have described Janet Mock as she describes her self. If any individual does not completely understand a culture or a group of people it is best to avoid describing the culture. No matter how black and white it may seem to the individual. Morgan could have describe the book, her personality and avoiding or politely refuse to answer questions on her gender, out of respect.

There needs to be education and awareness in all communities on understanding all forms of human sexuality in order for stronger understanding, empathy and respect. I understand that there are programs that provide this information but personally I feel it needs to be apart of everyday learning. The same way children, adolescents and adults learn reading, writing, math, sex education should be considered just as necessary.
